Purgation therapy

Virechana therapy is one of the five Panchkarma Treatments. It is a downward cleansing which
involves purging out of toxins and excess pitta. It is the cleansing of the toxins from  digestive
as well as  systemic channels. The treatment concentrates on the toxins that are accumulated
in the liver and gall bladder.

A number of effective and safe herbs can be used as purgatives. This includes senna,
Haritaki, Trivrit and castor oil. When taking these laxatives, it is important to adhere to restricted
diet. People with high imbalance of Pitta are given this type of treatment, which loosens and
mobilizes the toxins, in an effort to eliminate them from the body.

Virechana Therapy is suitable for treating a number of pitta conditions such as chronic skin
conditions including eczema and psoriasis, digestive disorders, IBS, chronic constipation,
alopecia and hair-loss.

The therapy involves a  thorough assessment of the health problem by our Ayurvedic doctor for
suitability of this therapy.

The therapy is run over 5 days which involves -
1. Internal Ghee (clarified butter) intake for 3 or 5 days
2. Everyday oil massages
3. Everyday steatm/heat treatments
4. Purgation
